Copley Health System Board Chair Elizabeth Rouse and Copley’s President Melvyn Patashnick expressed their gratitude to the more than 120 active volunteers who provide valuable service to Copley at a special volunteer appreciation breakfast held April 26th. Patashnick thanked the many individuals who dedicate their time and energy to do so much for so many while serving as ambassadors for Copley and the communities we serve. “We thank you all for your time and dedication, 17,000 hours is a tremendous gift to our community hospital,” he said. Volunteers representing the hospital, Gift Shop and Second Chance Thrift Store participated in the event. Community members from Hospital volunteer boards were also present, including Rouse and System Board trustee Nancy Putnam, and Copley Foundation committee members Polly Manosh and Lisa Hunt.
Special tribute was paid to volunteers who achieved milestones for their annual hours and years of service. Those recognized include: Jean Roberts (Craftsbury) for her 575 hours donated in the Health Sciences Library; Rosemary Arnold (Morrisville) for her 541 hours between the hospital Information Desk and Second Chance; Joyce LaRow (Hyde Park) for her 497 hours between the hospital Information Desk and Second Chance; Gurli Olsen (Stowe) for her 488 hours donated between the Community Relations Office and Second Chance; Jeanne Spear (Hyde Park) for her 425 hours at the Information Desk; Midge Lechevalier (Morrisville) for her 395 hours donated in Outpatient Services; David Davison (Greensboro) for his 376 hours donated in the Health Sciences Library; Linda Cannon-Huffman (Johnson) for her support to chaplaincy services; Liz Raymond (Morrisville) for her many years of service to both the Gift Shop and Second Chance; Mac Manning (Morrisville) for his many years and hours to Copley, most recently in the Purchasing and Receiving Department and Elinor Brayton (Morrisville) for her 28 years to the Gift Shop.
Volunteers provide support to Copley Hospital in a variety of ways and settings including: clerical support, delivery of mail, home knitting projects, Information Desk, patient care areas, the Health Sciences Library, garden care and with special projects. “Regardless of their role, volunteers are a vital part of Copley,” continued Patashnick.
